Ditch the long lines and pre-cooked meals, and head over to Siam Bistro in East Kendall for a truly sensual culinary experience.
Tucked away in a large strip mall, this family-owned restaurant is easy to miss, but hard to forget. Owner Samai “Sam” Mouthapong, his wife and friends working the kitchen serve up some of the best local Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, including curries, rice and noodle dishes.
The ambiance is cozy and romantic with light green walls, dark wood furniture, white tablecloths, golden accents, Buddha statues, and lit candles.
Start with crispy Golden Bags filled with shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, and water chestnuts fried to perfection and served with a plum dipping sauce for $ 6.95.
The Orient Delight, priced at $12.99, is perfect for sharing with your sweetheart. Choose lightly breaded chicken, beef or pork cooked in a three-flavor sauce with vegetables and cashew nuts. Once the dish is brought out, the server pours a little vodka and lights it up in a blue flame.
To add some spice to the evening, sample the restaurant’s four add-on condiments: sriacha sauce, Thai chiles in fish sauce, pickled green chile slices, and roasted red chile powder.
Dinner entrees come with all the sticky jasmine rice your heart desires.
For dessert, the Thai donuts are a must. Served with a side of condensed milk topped with chopped peanuts, they’ll steal your heart for only $3.95.
