Exceptional Pizza for Half the Price at Spris of Coral Gables

By Sue Arrowsmith

Spris of Coral Gables has the pizza formula down to a science. The Italian eatery also features some of the best daily specials in town.

From 5 to 6:30 p.m., the restaurant offers its “Beat the Clock” promotion. It works like this: choose from their select menu consisting of three pizzas and two pasta dishes and the price will be the same as the time you placed the order. For example, if the server jots down your order at 5:15 p.m., the dish will cost you $5.15.

Here’s the best part – the special is available seven days a week, so if you don’t live or work nearby, make it a date for the weekend. The atmosphere is simple, elegant and romantic, with soft Italian music always playing.

To really savor the artistry of their gourmet pies, go for the classic Pizza Marghuerita made with tomato sauce, mozzarella and fresh basil. You’ll fall in love with the not-too-thin-or-thick golden crust that’s soft and doughy when you pull it apart.

Pepperoni lovers who don’t mind a little kick will love the Pizza Diavola, topped with spicy Italian salami.

“Beat the Clock” choices also include Pizza Romana (tomato sauce, mozzarella, anchovies, and capers); Spaghetti Pomodoro (spaghetti with fresh tomato and pomodoro sauce) and Penne Alla Vodka (penne pasta in a creamy pink vodka sauce).

Spris’ other weekly specials feature any pizza on the menu with a glass of house wine or draft beer for $10.95 on Mondays and Tuesdays; half off all wine bottles (excluding champagne) on Wednesdays and homemade risotto with a glass of house wine on Thursdays for $17.95.

Note: 18% gratuity is automatically added to the check
