It’s chic, energetic, young, lively and reminiscent of the area code it proudly displays in its name: Kitchen 305. Located inside the Newport Beachside Hotel & Resort in Miami Beach, Kitchen 305 exudes the vibrancy of Miami both with its menu and with its cool ambience.
We began our meal with the refreshing “We Got The Beat Salad” ($11) which had pecan-crusted goat cheese over herb-marinated julienne beets for a great combination of crunchy and soft oozing from the beets and cheese. We also had a giant meatball, which was a special not included on the menu ($12) that was tasty and flavorful. Both were big teasers to the main courses that far exceeded our expectations.
For our entrée meals, we had the Rosemary Glazed Rack Of Lamb ($38), which was a New Zealand rack of lamb served with cauliflower puree and sweet potato mash, and we also enjoyed the Baked Halibut with Wild Mushroom Risotto and Creamy Red Pepper Coulis ($28). The lamb was tender and incredibly juicy but it was the fresh halibut that stood out as the superstar. Although the wild mushroom risotto combination was a bit unexpected, the flavors all came together for a delightful meal that was not too heavy and would leave enough room for dessert.
Our dessert options included the flourless chocolate cake ($12), which was a gluten-free cake drizzled with fudge and topped with strawberries, and the Key Lime Pie ($10), which was lemony and zesty, garnished with a piece of lime and a dollop of whipped cream. Both were rich and dense but just enough – not a bit overwhelming.
Our server was attentive and had great recommendations, including the last thing we enjoyed during our meal, a festive, giant portion of pink cotton candy dessert. It seemed to set the mood as people were ending dinner and soon thereafter hitting the nearby dance floor. The restaurant is a tourist and local hotspot that turns into a nightclub shortly after the kitchen stops serving.
What’s also incredibly appealing about Kitchen 305 are the specials that are offered during the week, including the all-you-can-eat King Crab special on Friday’s for ($49.95) and all-you-can-eat Fresh Main Lobster on Wednesday’s ($35), which includes soup or salad and two sides.
