Martita’s Banana Cakes – One Hundred Years of Pure Heaven

Recently Great Food List received word of a farmer’s market event held at TERRA Environmental Research Institute, a local magnet high school in Kendall, so we decided to venture out and check it out for ourselves.

In the midst of all the great food artisans, we found Martita’s Banana Cakes. A loaf-shaped cake, which looks ordinary, but is quite the opposite. The Story of “Martita’s Banana Cake” originated in Guatemala over a hundred years ago with a secret family recipe, passed on from generation to generation. Today, Clara Santana brought the family recipe and bakes each cake just as her great aunt “Martita” use to make.

Clara emphasizes the quality ingredients in every banana cake, which are all natural with no preservatives, using bananas from local farms. The end result is a perfectly moist textured cake, which works well for breakfast alongside your morning coffee or perhaps later in the day as a dessert with a scoop of your favorite ice cream.

The cakes are also available with walnuts, chocolate chips and blueberries, which are all made to order at a leased commercial kitchen in Kendall. If you’re looking for the perfect dessert and you love bananas, look no further than Martita’s Banana Cakes!
