Greatfoodlist.com ventured to a promising new Peruvian hot spot in Kendall called Mr. Karbon managed by Chef Abel Canales, a graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu in Peru. He started his career 17 years ago in New York and after a few years, moved to Miami and worked for Nobu, La Cofradilla and el Gran Inka.

On this visit, we tried the Lomo Saltado ($9.99) a typical Peruvian dish. Basically a Stir fry of meat, sauteed red onions, tomatoes, and soy sauce on a bed of fries, served with white rice. It was delicious, and bursted with flavor.

We also tried their fish and shrimp ceviche which was very well marinated and mildly spiced per our request; served with peruvian corn and sweet potatoes. Ceviche prices are comfortable, ranging between $5.99 and $11.99.

The dishes were prepared fairly quickly, the staff was very nice and Chef Abel was the most hospitable; he even went out of his way to greet guests personally.

We wish Chef Abel and his team much success and hope they keep a high standard in quality and service.

  1. The employees and food are great…but the owner needs to learn some manners and learn how to smile. He will ruin the business with his poor customer service skills!
